Share Our Strength Helps Chefs Go Back to School, Cook Up Change

Read the media release »

Our Goal: ensuring all children in America receive the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, active lives. If we accomplish this goal, we can put an end to two epidemics at the same time: childhood hunger and childhood obesity.

At the request of White House Assistant Chef Sam Kass, Share Our Strength® played a key role in the Chefs Move to Schools initiative, which launched on the South Lawn of the White House on June 4, where nearly 700 chefs gathered in support of healthier school meals for our nation's children.

Share Our Strength was selected to recruit and engage hundreds of chefs to join this national effort due its long history of engaging the culinary community in the fight against hunger through innovative volunteer opportunities. Among the scores of chefs who leant their support were some of the nation's most respected chefs and some of Food Network's biggest names including Cat Cora, Ellie Krieger, Aaron McCargo, Jr., and Anne Burrell.
