Eligibility

Any individual or company who has shared their strength to help us accomplish our mission and who embodies our core values is eligible for nomination.

General Information

Anyone may nominate an individual or company for our Leadership Awards.

All online entries for the 2011 Share Our Strength Leadership Awards must be received by September 2, 2011.

A selection committee will determine winners in each category and notify all nominees by September 9, 2011.

Categories

Community Event Leader - Taste of the Nation

Awarded to an individual for extraordinary accomplishment in the areas of leadership, committee building and event production for Taste of the Nation. This individual has succeeded in recruiting committee members and actively engaging each committee member's strengths. They show a commitment to the event and Share Our Strength and strive to increase the funds raised at the event each year. This individual is an effective spokesperson for the organization and their actions reflect Share Our Strength's core values.

Community Event Leader - Cooking Matters

Awarded to a Cooking Matters volunteer whose leadership has helped to build program capacity and awareness. His or her commitment to and understanding of Cooking Matters has engaged others in supporting the program as volunteers, community partners or donors so that more families can benefit. This volunteer consistently gives of their talents in multiple ways to improve and expand the Cooking Matters program in their community. This individual is deeply committed to bringing about positive change in their community, and their actions reflect Share Our Strength's core values.

Community Event Leader - Great American Bake Sale

Awarded to a Great American Bake Sale participant for extraordinary leadership and accomplishment in organizing and promoting a successful bake sale. This individual has succeeded in raising significant funds at their bake sale and has recruited family, friends, coworkers, etc. to help them or to host their own bake sales. They show a commitment to their event and Share Our Strength and strive to increase funds raised at the event each year. This individual is an effective spokesperson for the organization and their actions reflect Share Our Strength's core values.

Local Corporate Partner

Awarded to a company that has shared strength, time, and resources with Share Our Strength and the community at large. This partnership has raised significant additional funds and awareness for Share Our Strength. Involvement by this corporate partner extends to activation by their employees; supporting Share Our Strength is part of the company culture. They have gone above and beyond the standard role of a corporate partner by playing an active role in planning. The leadership of this company is deeply committed to bringing about positive change in their community and their actions reflect Share Our Strength's core values.

Share Our Strength Advocate

Awarded to an individual who serves as a tireless "cheerleader" on Share Our Strength's behalf and who effectively communicates Share Our Strength's mission and messages. This individual is an effective spokesperson and a strong volunteer recruiter for our various platforms. They frequently use their influence to make connections within their personal and professional networks that have led to new Share Our Strength initiatives. This individual is deeply committed to bringing about positive change in their community and their actions reflect Share Our Strength's core values.

Chef/Restaurateur

Share Our Strength Innovator

Awarded to an individual, company or state partner who has an ability to think outside of the box. They have created new events, concepts or methods to raise additional funds and/or awareness for Share Our Strength. These innovators may have developed a creative initiative that brought the issue of childhood hunger to a new community or re-energized a group of past volunteers or supporters. Their ideas showed ingenuity and their passion brought that idea to life to ensure that no kid in America grows up hungry. They are passionate about bringing about positive change in their community and their actions reflect Share Our Strength's core values.

Rookie of the Year

Awarded to a new member or partner of the Share Our Strength family who has supported our anti-hunger activities with energy, enthusiasm and dedication. This individual or company wasted no time in sharing all their talents with Share Our Strength. In a short time their contributions have resulted in additional revenue for the organization and an increased awareness of the issue of childhood hunger within their community and beyond. They quickly became an enthusiastic and informed representative for Share Our Strength and have been able to convey their passion for the cause to their network. This individual is deeply committed to bringing about positive change in their community and their actions reflect Share Our Strength's core values.

Humanitarian of the Year

Awarded to an individual whose extraordinary strength and commitment to Share Our Strength's core values and mission has made a difference in the lives of others. This individual has shown their dedication through many years of service to Share Our Strength. Throughout their involvement with the organization they have shown themselves to be an effective spokesperson and a strong recruiter for our various platforms/programs. They frequently use their influence to make connections within their personal and professional networks that have led to new Share Our Strength initiatives. This individual is deeply committed to bringing about positive change in their community and their actions reflect Share Our Strength's core values.
