Time for Spring Cleaning? Clean Out for Kids Helps Fight Hunger

Posted by Sylvia Vidal on Friday, April 1, 2011

Clean Out for KidsIt’s that time of year again: time to clean out your closets and get organized for spring! Gather your friends and family and make spring cleaning fun this year by hosting a Better Homes and Gardens Clean Out for Kids yard sale.

Clean Out for Kids is a new grassroots fundraising campaign encouraging Americans to host a yard sale and donate the proceeds to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign. Hosting a yard sale is fun and easy and is a great way for you non-culinary gurus to get involved in Share Our Strength. It’s as simple as cleaning out your closets and selling items you no longer want. There are lots of tricks to hosting a successful yard sale, besides praying for nice weather. We’ve created a tool kit to help get you started. You can download it by visiting www.BHG.com/cleanoutforkids.

Have a designer bag you no longer use? Selling high valued items on Ebay Giving Works is a great way to raise more money. Post vintage, collectible, designer brand and even leftover items online. Signing up to be an Ebay vendor may sound intimidating but it is easy if you follow these steps.

Clean Out for Kids is in its first season and I am so excited to be a part of the Clean Out for Kids Team. To participate, go to www.strength.org/cleanoutforkids and register to host a yard sale. Don’t forget, your junk is someone else’s treasure!
