Salma Bahramy

Salma Bahramy is the Communications Manager at Share Our Strength focused on raising awareness of Share Our Strength’s programs and initiatives in the media. Salma joined the team in 2010 and works to promote Share Our Strength’s culinary fundraisers including Taste of the Nation, A Tasteful Pursuit, Great American Bake Sale and Great American Dine Out as well as the overall No Kid Hungry campaign and strategy.

Prior to joining Share Our Strength, Salma held positions at Hill & Knowlton in Washington, DC and The Brandman Agency and MTV Networks in New York City working on national media relations, corporate communications and cause marketing campaigns.

Now a DC area resident, Salma grew up in Germany, with parents of Afghan origin, and loves exploring new languages, cultures, destinations and foods.

Bloggers Get Involved at ConAgra Foods Foundation Cooking Matters Boot Camp [ 1 comment]

A couple of weeks ago, I joined 11 bloggers from across the U.S. who convened in Dallas, Texas, for a bloggers’ boot camp hosted by the ConAgra Foods Foundation. Ok, there wasn’t really any exercise involved. It was more of a philosophical boot camp; a two-day jam-packed immersion session into Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters program, designed to give the bloggers information on childhood hunger and tools to try and tackle the issue within their own communities.

On Wednesday, Share Our Strength joined the NYC Dept. of Education at an event to highlight the summer meals truck; an innovative joint pilot program that is tackling this very issue throughout different boroughs in New York City.
