Update January 15: Share Our Strength has been able to move $140,000 to organizations on the ground in Haiti. We are working to facilitate the many generous offers coming from those in the restaurant and food service industries who always selflessly respond in situations like this in ways that range from raising funds from their employees and customers, to cooking for and helping to feed first responders, emergency rescue crews, and the tens of thousands of displaced families.

Share Our Strength will be providing an emergency assistance grant to three organizations providing relief to the people of Haiti: Partners in Health (PIH), International Organization for Migration (IOM) and CARE.

If you’d like to donate to them, simply follow the links above.

Haiti is Share Our Strength’s largest international grant recipient; we have made grants in Haiti for more than 20 years. Consequently we will also be developing a long-term strategy for raising funds to help rebuild the country and will update this page as details become available.

We encourage you to do your part to help. Here is a list of other international organizations already on the ground in Haiti (special thanks to Mashable for gathering this information):

  • The American Jewish World Service has set up the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund to respond to the crisis by supporting a network of organizations it works with.
  • AmeriCares has pledged $5 million to Haitian quake relief, and is soliciting donations to a general emergency disaster relief fund to help it accomplish that.
  • Direct Relief International has committed up to $1 million in aid through two on-the-ground partners, and is sending containers of medical material aid.
  • Oxfam has 200 people on the ground to deal with the crisis, and began its efforts by trying to get clean water to victims of the quake.

There’s an even larger list of organizations on MSNBC.com.

Please check back soon for details on our long-term strategy for helping to rebuild the country. We will provide updates as details become available. Thank you for doing what you can to support relief efforts during this time.

Makes me proud to have been supporting both Share our Strength and Oxfam for the last few years. Keep up the good work. The world is a better place because of these organizations.
