Rocky Mountain Region Whole Foods Holds First Great American Bake Sale

Posted by Lauren Craig on Friday, July 16, 2010

Cookies for Sale at Whole FoodsAs part of Whole Foods Market’s partnership with Share Our Strength, all of our 28 stores in the Rocky Mountain region participated in the Great American Bake Sale earlier this month to create awareness and help educate the community about an issue that is often ignored.  Since 2003, more than 1.7 million people have participated in Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale, raising $6 million to make sure no child in America grows up hungry.  During our three day event, we were able to sell 441 Giant Chocolate Chip cookies as part of our sale – far more than we typically sell in an average week.

Funds that we raised will directly support local efforts to end childhood hunger by 2015. Almost all of our regions work with Share Our Strength on some level, and we were happy to get the Rocky Mountain region on board. We’re excited to say that all of our stores in New Mexico, Utah, Kansas and Colorado helped us support Share Our Strength!

We’re also proud to support Share Our Strength in Denver’s Taste of Nation event, so be sure to stop by to try some delicious, healthy Whole Foods Market chef prepared fare, July 18th from 5-8:00 p.m. at Mile High Station. Ticket information is available here.

This is just the beginning of our partnership in the Rocky Mountain region, and we very much look forward to fostering the relationship and leveraging fundraising into the future. Whether you’re a business or a parent who loves to bake with her kids, I encourage you to hold your own Great American Bake Sale.
