Kelly Staid has lived in New Hampshire her whole life and graduated from The University of New Hampshire in May 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences. She volunteered with Cooking Matters during the summer before her senior year of college (summer 2009). She loved the experience and found it to be very rewarding. During her senior year at the University of New Hampshire, she took a course on community nutrition, which opened her eyes to how many in her community could benefit from programs like Cooking Matters, which teaches people about healthy and affordable cooking. Kelly has been a full-time AmeriCorps member at Cooking Matters’ Lead Partner the New Hampshire Food Bank since December 2010.

A few weeks ago, here at the New Hampshire Food Bank, I was told I was going to be on camera with the First Lady of New Hampshire and was going to be asked a few questions about AmeriCorps. I instantly got nervous.
