This weekend at our Conference of Leaders we presented Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign strategy for ending childhood hunger in America. A number of our volunteer leaders we on hand to discuss how we can work together to make “No Kid Hungry” more than just a tagline.

In the presentation, you’ll see that we spoke about the state of hunger in America today to set the context for our plan to end childhood hunger by 2015, our approach — to surround kids at risk of hunger with nutritious food where they live, learn, and play, and how we are working this just like a political campaign — with our election day November 2015. Then we laid out our four pronged strategy and talked about how all those pieces must work closely together to end childhood hunger.

We highlighted our state based partnerships and heard from our partners in Washington State, Florida, Maryland and the District of Columbia who presented the great work they are doing around summer meals, access to fresh fruit and vegetables, and food stamps. Then we talked about our plans to expand our state based strategy to ten states by the end of 2010 – and showed the path forward to 2015.

Finally, we talked how everyone has a role to play in ending childhood hunger from individual volunteers to corporations. We look forward to sharing more about our campaign in the days ahead—via our online communications as well as through a series of roadshows we’re launching in key markets.

Only 2,185 days until our deadline for ending childhood hunger by Election Day 2015!
