James was born and raised in Royal Oak, MI. He attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate degree, receiving a B.S. in Environmental Science, while concentrating in Urban Planning. While at the University of Michigan James was a member of Amnesty International, Human Rights Through Education, The Detroit Partnership, The Men’s Glee Club, and the Semester in Detroit Planning Team.
James is a soccer player and an avid music fan. His favorite genres of music are probably new wave, funk & soul, and hip-hop, with his favorite band being Talking Heads. He enjoys the outdoors and loves living in Michigan, due to the abundance of fresh water, especially in the Great Lakes. James is really looking forward to his year at Gleaners Food Bank!
