A Deserved Salute to Debbie Shore

If you haven’t seen it already, pick up the current issue of ELLE magazine and turn to page 122. Debbie Shore, Share Our Strength’s co-founder, is sitting solidly among what ELLE calls “the capital’s shiniest stars,” in its D.C. Power List 2010. Read more>>
Debbie has been featured in magazines before, but this list of the nation’s most influential women stands out: Debbie’s the feisty “food fighter” among a bipartisan collection of women in Washington with political clout (Senior Obama Advisor Stephanie Cutter and lobbyist Linda Daschle, to name two), media moxie (including New York Times columnist Maureen O’Dowd), professional bravery driven by vision (former D.C. school chancellor Michelle Rhee), and a tireless drive to improve the world through nonprofit channels.
Those who know Debbie know that she doesn’t hide her passion, her drive, her vision or her opinions. She shies from no challenge and rightfully creates new ones to push Share Our Strength, our staff, volunteers, sponsors, partners and cause forward. And like all these heavy-hitters, Debbie works her contacts for the greater good.
How the writer, Lisa DePaulo, captured the spirit, purpose and person of Debbie Shore in fewer than 125 words is no small feat. The nation’s capital, indeed, the nation is a better place for having Debbie Shore fighting to feed America’s kids. You can read the tribute here>>
