Follow Us in Dallas Today

Posted by Clay Dunn on Wednesday, March 2, 2011

hinges of hopeI’m in Dallas today on a Hinges of Hope tour, one of the experiential learning trips designed to give our supporters and volunteer leaders an opportunity to witness Share Our Strength’s work on the ground.

On today’s trip, we’ll meet with Texas hunger experts, visit the Cooking Matters class at the North Texas Food Bank, meet with families that benefit from the work we fund, and even attend an after-school program to hear about their new supper program.

On the tour, we’re joined by representatives of many of the restaurants who participate in the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry (formerly Great American Dine Out). Last year, they raised more than $1.5 million to help support the kind of work we’re seeing today. This year, they’re hoping to double that, raising $3 million dollars! We’re thrilled to be able to give them a first-hand look at our work to end child hunger in Texas, and the difference their fundraising is making.

You can follow along with the tour over on Twitter. And of course we’ll share more news and photos from the trip next week here on the blog.
