A Peek Backstage: Share Our Strength’s Holiday Card Creative

Posted by Chris Norman on Tuesday, November 30, 2010

SOS Holiday CardThe creative team here is so happy to share their strengths to make No Kid Hungry for the holidays a reality! Many of you have seen the newly minted holiday cards, but probably don’t know what’s gone into making them…

This year, we decided to use the process of letterpress printing to produce our cards. Revived from the traditional way of printing from the 15th – mid-20th centuries and made popular by Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine, letterpress printing is hand-fed, relief printing that takes a high degree of skill and time. The resulting beauty and texture of this process appealed to us when we conceptualized this year’s Share Our Strength honor cards. And thanks to a fantastic partnership with printmaker Ryan Ives (ryanives.net), we are able to offer some truly gorgeous holiday tag cards.

Lest you think that Ryan was the only person putting in countless hours to make this a reality, let me assure you that almost every segment of Share Our Strength’s staff has added their contribution to the card. From composing the text, to marketing the cards, cutting ribbon and documenting it all on the web and in photo, Share Our Strength’s staff is proud to present 2010’s holiday card. Please see the image below to take a small peek backstage at Share Our Strength’s holiday machinations.

You can purchase the cards in our online storefront. The greatest thing about these tags is that one $10 card purchase can help connect a child facing hunger with 100 nutritious meals.

Happy Holidays from the Creative Team,
