Share Our Strength's Cooking Matters
Cathy Berg manages Educational Outreach for Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters program, which teaches families how to cook and eat healthfully on a budget. She’s been with Share Our Strength for a little over two years, helping to build the reach of Cooking Matters and inspire more chefs across the country to share their cooking know-how with families in need in their own communities.
Prior to joining Share Our Strength, Cathy worked in marketing and product management for the dairy and natural products industries. She grew up in upstate New York, and in addition to holding a bachelors degree in communications, she is also a graduate of the professional culinary program of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City and holds a certificate of distinction from the Sommelier Society of America.
Cathy’s love of food and cooking has been inspired and influenced by her travels and by the delicious creations of her father and grandmother, both of whom are accomplished home cooks. Besides trying to find 101 new uses for smoky Spanish paprika and succumbing to her serious guacamole addiction, Cathy enjoys traveling to lands far and near, aimless wandering with camera in hand, and spending time around mountains and trees.

Today, Share Our Strength unveiled a new name for our signature educational program: Cooking Matters™ (formerly Operation Frontline®) to over 100 volunteers, staff, and stakeholders from across the country at our annual Conference of Leaders.
