Brian Alexander is an AmeriCorps VISTA member and will be spending the next year working with the Maryland No Kid Hungry Campaign. He is a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he majored in Political Science and suffered through one of the worst four year stretches in Notre Dame football history. He studied abroad in London and has spent time volunteering in the South Pacific, Costa Rica, and New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. As a Maryland resident for nearly twenty years, Brian is very excited to be working to end childhood hunger in the state.

Since joining Share Our Strength as an AmeriCorps VISTA member in January, it has become evident that hunger does not discriminate between rural and urban. Maryland is one of the most densely-populated states in the country (it ranked 6th in population density in 2000), but even here, you will find rural regions and small towns where Share Our Strength is working to end childhood hunger. A perfect example is Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
