crisis in haitiI’m writing to make sure you have a quick update on the steps Share Our Strength has taken on behalf of Haiti. Even many of our closest supporters are not aware that we have long ties there and that Haiti is our largest international grant recipient over the past 20 years. We’ve invested more there than anywhere else outside of the U.S.

We are committed to both fast action to support emergency relief, but also to long-term assistance. Hunger has always been an issue of staggering proportions in Haiti and of course will be even more so going forward.

In 48 hours we’ve been able to move $140,000 to support emergency relief efforts conducted by organizations we know have the capacity and expertise to respond to such a crisis. These include but are not limited to Partners in Health, International Organization for Migration, CARE, and the United Nations Foundation.

If you would like to make a donation to these efforts, we have a fund set up where 100% of all donations will go to support Haitian crisis efforts. You can make that donation here »

You can stay up-to-date on our efforts on behalf of Haiti and find other emergency relief resources at Strength.org.

We are also working to facilitate many generous offers coming from those in the restaurant and food service industries who always selflessly respond in situations like this. They will be doing everything from raising funds from their employees and customers, to actually cooking for and helping to feed first responders, emergency rescue crews, and the tens of thousands of displaced families.

As you know, after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Share Our Strength was one of the few organizations to make a long-term commitment to the ongoing recovery and rebuilding that would be required across the Gulf Coast. Even three years later we still have staff on the ground providing significant support.

We intend no less with regard to Haiti. In the weeks and months ahead we will work to identify the best way to make a long-term commitment that supports our partners, contributes to the massive rebuilding effort that will be necessary, and creates an infrastructure to address what will be record levels of hunger.

I will continue to keep you posted on our efforts. If you have any questions or need additional information, please don’t hesitate to be in touch.

Hi, we are working in organizing a crew as a volunteer to go there and help in anything, I believed they need help in some things such as ditributting the food, comunication and so forth.

We are also organizing events to colect money and food as well.

Please if you have any idea how can we contact someone, let me know

Thank you

We're having a Pasta Party tomorrow night to contribute to Haiti. Glad to have this option with SOS. Under normal circumstances, I like helping American children. Keep up the good work.
