Amory grew up in Rochester, New York and attended Syracuse University where she majored in Geography and Environmental science, and minored in English. She completed an honors thesis about mapping the Syracuse food desert which combined her passions for social justice, food and community development. After moving to Boston she soon found an organization that shared these passions: Cooking Matters Massachusetts. Amory has been a National Direct Service AmeriCorps member there since May 2011. She serves as a course coordinator and oversees Shopping Matters, a tool which helps families make healthy and affordable choices at the supermarket. In her free time, Amory plays ultimate Frisbee, cooks and updates her food blog.
