Alice Pennington

Alice Pennington is the Manager of Executive Team Support at Share Our Strength, primarily working with Founders Billy and Debbie Shore and Managing Director Pat Nicklin. Alice is a proud Clevelander and die-hard Fighting Irish fan. She arrived in Washington, DC just after her graduation from the University of Notre Dame four years ago. In college, she majored in Spanish and International Peace Studies and traveled extensively in Latin America where she first witnessed the devastating effects poverty can have on families and children. Her experiences in rural El Salvador and urban Santiago, Chile are what first sparked her commitment to working for a nonprofit addressing children’s issues in all types of environments and circumstances.

Alice also loves kids, the Oscars, peanut butter M&Ms, and reading fiction.

In New Mexico during the summer meals road trip, we met many amazing leaders fighting child hunger – leaders who are making sure kids in their community are being reached by the USDA summer food program no matter what barriers they encounter along the way. The USDA summer food program provides reimbursement to community organizations around the country that run summer meals programs for kids who normally receive free and reduced meals at their schools. The organizations’ leaders are creative, passionate problem-solvers who would go to any length to protect and serve children facing hunger.
